Meet the Doc


Dr. Nodine
Duane A. Nodine, D.D.S.
Doc was born and raised in Waterloo, Indiana near Auburn. Arriving in Bluffton in 1973, he joined Dr. James McPheeters in dental practice. Doc opened a satellite office in Markle in the late 70’s and moved his Bluffton practice to its present location in 1979. He attended Manchester College and Indiana University School of Dentistry.

Marrying Fritzi Harp in ’74, they bought the property on 116 W. and continue living there. They have 3 children, Sarah and Jon, who attended IU Kelly School of Business and are now out in the working world. Their youngest, Bailey, attends Norwell Middle School, and loves to sing.

Doc enjoys music, basketball, golf, and being at their lake home in Hamilton. He loves his family, nature, and feels lucky to have a passion for dentistry.

Clinical Dental Assistants:

Betty Clark
Betty Clark,
Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

Betty started working at Dr. Nodine’s in January 1999, moving to Bluffton from Shelbyville, IN. She brings to the office 27 years of experience graduating as a Certified Dental Assistant from Indiana- Purdue University Fort Wayne in May 1979. She later continued her training at Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis receiving her expanded duties certificate.

Betty and her husband and high school sweetheart, Tom, have two children. Lauren is a junior at Ball State University and Drew is a freshman at Purdue University. She enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

Emily Minnich
Emily Minnich,
Certified Dental Assistant/
Expanded Functions

Emily began working for Dr. Nodine in May of 2005, after attending Indiana Purdue University of Fort Wayne and graduated with a Certificate in Dental Assisting. She passed her state boards and became a Certified Dental Assistant, which includes being licensed to take dental radiographs. In April 2006, Emily completed the Expanded Dental Axillaries at Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis. She is also a member of the American Dental Assistant Association. Emily is currently working as a chairside assistant and is the purchasing agent for the office; she enjoys working for Dr. Nodine.

Emily is a family oriented person. She married Adam Minnich in November 2005. She enjoys spending time with Adam, her extended family, and friends. They live near Decatur and enjoy the outdoors with their dog, Cocoa.

Allison Berger
Allison Berger,
Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

Allison joined Dr. Nodine’s practice in May of 2005. She received a degree from Indiana Purdue University of Fort Wayne. Allison specialized in Crown and Bridge and Complete Dentures. She furthered her education after joining Dr Nodine’s office in Expanded Dental Axillaries in the fall of 2006 at Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis. She also received her Indiana State Radiology certificate in the spring of 2007 and really enjoys working in the dental office.

Allison has lived in Wells County all her life. She loves camping with her family and horses in her spare time, working in the garden, landscaping, being outside and enjoying a good campfire with friends.

Hygienist:

Marci Lockwood
Marci Lockwood,
License Dental Hygienist

Marci graduated from IPFW with an Associates degree in Dental Hygiene in 2002. She has been employed with Dr. Nodine as a Licensed Dental Hygienist for the last five years. Marci is also a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association. She finds herself very fortunate to have a job she thoroughly enjoys and loves interacting with our patient’s daily.

Marci was born, raised, and still currently resides in Wells County. She married in 2004 to her husband, Kyle, and they now have an adorable 1 year old son, Wrigley. Marci currently has Fridays off work so she can have more time to spend with Wrigley. Along with her family, she loves water sports, bicycling, and walking outdoors. Marci is a member at Life Community Church, located here in Bluffton.

Monica Schaeffer

License Dental Hygienist

Monica received her Licensed Dental Hygienist degree in May 2005 from Indiana University, Purdue University of Fort Wayne. She started her employment with Dr. Nodine’s dental office that following July. Monica enjoys all of her everyday hygiene tasks, but she especially likes the challenge of a periodontal patient, teaching young children the importance of brushing their teeth, and trying to improve the oral health of all of our patients.

Monica was born and raised in rural Adams County. In April 2006, she married her husband, Andrew, and they are currently residing on a farm near Wilshire, Ohio. Monica enjoys being outdoors, going to auctions, painting, and spending time with family and friends. Monica is a member of Zion Friedheim Lutheran Church.

Tammy Lickey
Tammy Lickey,
License Dental Hygienist

Tammy received her degree in Dental Hygiene in May 1991 from Indiana University, Purdue University of Fort Wayne. She worked for Dr. Nodine full time from 1991 to 1993, and returned to work at his Bluffton office on Fridays in the spring of 2006.

Tammy was born and raised in Markle, Indiana.
She married her husband, Tom, in 1981, and they have two daughters. Their oldest daughter, Amy, lives in Bloomington with her husband Eric, and their son Ashton Forrest. Amy is a third grade and special needs education teacher. Tammy’s youngest daughter, Kelly, attends Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion with her boyfriend, Tim, and will be a junior this year. She is also double majoring in Elementary Education and Special Needs Education.

Tammy enjoys spending time outdoors, and doing floral and interior design. She is a member of College Park United Brethren Church in Huntington.

Teresa Claghorn,
Scheduling Coordinator

Teresa started work for Dr. Nodine in October 2001. She came to our office after working for the Bluffton Middle School and Claghorn Floor & Spa.

Teresa is a native of Bluffton and married Tim Claghorn in 1983. They have three children, Britton whom graduated from collage recently and will be working for Thoma-Rich Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home. Jordan will be transferring from Vincennes University to Indiana State University to further his education in business administration and insurance. And their youngest child, Andrea, will be attending Ivy Tech this fall in Fort Wayne.

The Claghorn family enjoys boating, working in the yard, taking long walks and relaxing by the pool. During the school year Tim and Teresa keep busy coaching Varsity girls swimming at Bluffton High School.

Wendy Stout
Wendy Stout,
Financial Coordinator/Accounts Receivable/Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

Wendy began working in the Dental Office for Dr. Nodine in November 2000. She was trained on the job by Dr. Nodine to assist chair side and was taught Radiation Health and Safety that she completed examination at IPFW in March of 2002 for her Indiana State Dental Radiographer License. In November 2002 she completed an Expanded Functions program for Dental Axillaries at IU School of Dentistry in Indianapolis. She began working with patient financial accounts in May of 2003; she had completed a correspondence course for billing and coding prior to her hire.

Married to Kevin Stout September 18, 1993; they have five children, Kendra, Justin, Jessica, Kevin Jr., and Jacob. Originally from Albany, Indiana moved and have lived in the Wells County area for about 13 years. They now have one grandson, Bryce, born in 2005. Kevin and Wendy are members of St. Mary Catholic Church located in Dunkirk.
